  • Chapters

    A chapter is a local collective of INCITE! members, who band together around shared political views, interests, and actions AND express agreement with INCITE!’s core principles/statement. They usually meet to share space and work on action-related projects. Each chapter is autonomous, and can decide what to work on based on the needs of their communities.

  • Affiliates

    Our affiliates are independent organizations who collaborate with us on campaigns or events. An affiliate can be an unrelated organization, or an upstart from a chapter or working group. Examples of INCITE! Affiliates include: Young Women United, Mamis of Color Rising, Creative Interventions, and many more.

  • Working groups

    Working Groups form when two or more chapters, affiliates and/or individual members start working together on projects that connect organizing efforts across geographic areas. Their work must fall within INCITE’s mission (please see Criteria for INCITE! projects). A Working Group may be infrastructural (eg. Media and Communications, Grassroots fundraising) or issue-based (eg. Birthing and Community Care-giving, Community Accountability, Militarism and Law Enforcement Violence, etc).

  • Individual members

    An individual member of INCITE! should identify as a woman and/or gender non-conforming and/or trans person of color AND express agreement with INCITE!’s core principles/statement. Individual members participate in some of the following items: Participate in INCITE! Working Groups, campaigns or network gatherings, distribute INCITE! political material, sign onto letters of support, and more!

  • National collective

    INCITE! was started in 2000 by a group of nine women of color from across the U.S.,coming from a variety of ethnic, geographic, and political contexts and backgrounds. This group made up the national organizing collective of INCITE!. Over the years, individuals have rotated through this collective. The national collective organizes events, produces materials like posters and books, fundraises, facilitates, and supports the entire INCITE! network.
